Kindly funded by Lingen Davies Cancer Support , I Can Dance classes offer you the chance to access an uplifting dance class in Shrewsbury.  
You will be part of a group full of like-minded people - who will all get to feel the physical and mental benefits of dancing :)

The sessions are very light-hearted and relaxed and you will find the choreography easy to pick up and a joy to dance 😊

These fun and friendly classes run over 8 weeks, giving you the chance to try out a variety of dance styles — including Charleston, Disco, Bhangra , Line Dancing and Salsa ! Each style is enjoyed for two weeks at a time, so you can really get a feel for it before moving on to the next one.

Sessions are open to complete beginners as well as those with some dance experience — all levels are very welcome. The focus is on getting active in an enjoyable way, with a moderate pace that may get your heart beating a little faster and your smile shining a little brighter ✨

Classes are open to anyone with a cancer diagnosis, at any stage of their journey. As with starting any new exercise programme, please do check with your medical professional if you’re unsure whether this is right for you.I look forward to dancing with you…

**What is Bhangra Fusion?**

Bhangra dance high-energy Indian folk dance full of  jumps, kicks, spins , dynamic arm gestures and shoulder shimmies!

Originating in the Punjab region of the Indian subcontinent as way of expressing joy after a good harvest, modern Bhangra dance is a vibrant fusion of the traditional dance elements with modern western influences like pop, reggae, hip hop and contemporary dance. This melting pot of dance styles has become a vibrant and popular way of expressing Bhangra’s celebratory spirit and keeping Punjabi origins alive!

In my‘ Bhangra Fusion’ class you will learn dynamic dance sequences that combine popular Bhangra steps with elements of Street Dance and Bollywood dance to give you an exciting and energetic dance workout ! During a 60-minute class you’ll master and dance choreographies to lots of pumping modern Bhangra tunes which will raise your mood - and pulse! This class will leave you invigorated and beaming :)

Over the weeks you will find that your muscle memory kicks in and you will begin to dance choreographies with ease, confidence and stylistic flare!

This is an open- level , welcoming complete beginners and those with some dance experience

During each session you 'll learn 90's inspired dance routines to tunes from the likes Mc Hammer, Young Mc and Fat Boy Slim-

Back Street Boys, Madonna and The Spice Girls! Disclaimer: A few tunes from the early 00’s will also be thrown in ;)

Do the 'Reebok', 'Running Man' ,'Bart Simpson' and 'Alf' ! Choreographic style is influenced by 90's dance trends, namely hip hop and commercial dance and will get your heart rate going and body buzzing! The class is open level and welcomes everyone interested in getting fitter through dance. Sections of choreography are easy to pick up , and as the weeks go on you 'll find your self not just *following* them but dancing them with some swagger!!

This is the first time in over a decade that I have returned to exercise mainly due to having mobility issues and severe pain in my feet due to Rheumatoid Arthritis.
I find the classes really fun and find myself practicing some of the moves that I can remember at home or when out on dog walks when nobody is watching! It lifts my mood and I feel better each time I go. I love coming to these classes and my confidence is growing slightly more each week. Thanks!
